Did you know that the vast majority of people in this day and age have excess abdominal fat? The first thing that most people think of is that their extra abdominal fat is simply ugly, is covering up their abs from being visible, and makes them self conscious about showing off their body.

However, what most people don’t realize is that excess abdominal fat in particular, is not only ugly, but is also a dangerous risk factor to your health. Scientific research has clearly determined that although it is unhealthy in general to have excess body fat throughout your body, it is also particularly dangerous to have excess abdominal fat.

There are two types of fat that you have in your abdominal area. The first type that covers up your abs from being visible is called subcutaneous fat and lies directly beneath the skin and on top of the abdominal muscles.

The second type of fat that you have in your abdominal area is called visceral fat, and that lies deeper in the abdomen beneath your muscle and surrounding your organs. Visceral fat also plays a role in giving certain men that "beer belly" appearance where their abdomen protrudes excessively but at the same time, also feels sort of hard if you push on it.

Both subcutaneous fat and visceral fat in the abdominal area are serious health risk factors, but science has shown that having excessive visceral fat is even more dangerous than subcutaneous fat. Both of them greatly increase your risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, sleep apnea, various forms of cancer, and other degenerative diseases.

Part of the reason visceral fat is particularly dangerous is that it apparently releases more inflammatory molecules into your body on a consistent basis.

If you care about the quality of your life and your loved ones, reducing your abdominal fat should be one of your TOP priorities! There’s just no way around it. Besides, a side effect of finally getting rid of all of that excessive ugly abdominal fat is that your stomach will flatten out, and if you lose enough stomach fat, you will be able to visibly see those sexy six pack abs that everyone wants.

So what gets rid of extra abdominal fat? The first thing you must understand is that there is absolutely NO quick fix solution. There are no pills or supplements of any sort that will help you lose your abdominal fat faster. Also, none of the gimmicky ab rockers, rollers, or ab belts will help get rid of abdominal fat either. You can’t spot reduce your stomach fat by using any of these worthless contraptions. It simply doesn’t work that way.

The only solution to consistently lose your abdominal fat and keep it off for good is to combine a sound strategic nutritious diet full of unprocessed natural foods with a properly designed exercise program that stimulates the necessary hormonal and metabolic response within your body. Both your food intake as well as your training program are important if you are to get this right.

I’ve actually even seen a particular study that divided thousands of participants into a diet-only group and an exercise/diet group. While both groups in this study made good progress, the diet-only group lost significantly LESS abdominal fat than the diet & exercise combined group.

Now the important thing to realize is that just any old exercise program will not necessarily do the trick. The majority of people that attempt getting into a good exercise routine are NOT working out effectively enough to really stimulate the loss of stubborn abdominal fat. I see this everyday at the gym.

Most people will do your typical boring cardio routines, throw in a little outdated body-part style weight training, and pump away with some crunches and side bends, and think that they are doing something useful for reducing their abdominal fat. Then they become frustrated after weeks or months of no results and wonder where they went wrong.

Well, the good news is that I’ve spent over a decade researching this topic, analyzing the science, and applying it "in the trenches" with myself as well as thousands of my clients from all over the world to see what works to really stimulate abdominal fat loss.

The entire solution… all of the nutritional strategies, as well and training sequences, exercise combinations, and more have all been compiled in my Truth About Six Pack Abs Program.

Have any of you see an ad these last few days about a lady doctor that all other doctors would like to shut up for good?

Yes, as in kill, lol, but hopefully not literally!

The reason is that she wants to tell everyone why they have such a hard time losing weight.

Why that lower pooch never seems to want to go away.

Why even with low bodyfat, some still feel and look bloated.

Of course, diet doctors and those selling expensive pills and supplements don’t want the general public to know how to fix that problem themselves, because …

What would they get their income from then!?

Bankruptcy lurks!

Well, probably not. There are still a lot of people who prefer trying that "quick fix" remedy or running to a doctor because it makes it look like they are really making an effort with this overweight issue they have; when they’re really not doing anything at all.

So these people, supplement sellers and doctors, don’t really have anything to fear in my humble opinion.

Also, what this lady doctor is saying … would you believe I heard - or read - the same things in 1987?

Back then, it was wrapped in a hard-copy book and it was what you got for the price.

Period.

However, it did help me get the excess weight off, and in fact … 8 pounds more than I had bargained for!

This time, the book is an e-book.

And yes, by a different person.

I’ve been eating clean and exercising for years now, I’m pretty much in tune with what my body tells me, so when I took these tests, I could see that they were accurate as per what my body was already telling me.

This is why I can tell you that these tests are good enough for you to act upon once you’ve taken them, ok? No "hype" here, just some fun little tests that actually open your eyes.

Warning:  some of the pictures and videos are really graphic and pretty gross; however, it sometimes takes a real shock to make us react and actually act upon good information.

I know. We’ve been giving you a lot of new things lately. Jeff Anderson’s Combat the Fat, TheMuscleHead’s complete program  among others, and now this.

I honestly don’t want you to feel overwhelmed or confused, or thinking "what the h.. should I get out of all these?" because they are such totally different programs and systems … yet I know you are getting confused, overwhelmed, a little fed up even maybe?

I hope not, because all we really want to do is help YOU find the way out of the overweight, over fat rut and back to a healthy, lean body that nature intended you to have!

This is pretty hefty stuff.

I mean … pictures of people picking their poop out of the toilet to show how efficient this system is in ridding them of the excesses that are blocking their insides.

Videos of parasitic organisms living inside a human body … not what you want to see when you’re wolfing down a sandwich over your computer!

But hey, it wakes you up, makes you pay attention, take action.

You clean up your nutrition and get your back side off the couch, and start taking responsibility for your own life, your own body!

Honestly?

No one has ever put this information out in this manner (as far as I know) and in a language accessible to people like you and me.

Maybe this is the kick in the butt that you need?

How an abundance of ‘great weight loss ideas’ almost ruined my life and how to stop Information Overload from ruining yours!

Great weight loss techniques are completely worthless.

I stopped it - As soon as I saw this horrifying trend in the industry years ago, I stopped testing our new technique after new technique on my clients.

But there was one common denominator - everything that worked, everything that was actually getting people great results, was already known to man.

Not many of the "new" techniques were actually working.

Every few days. Another technique came across my desk that was supposed to make people thin and healthy. It was amazing.

People trying to lose weight were caught up on Information Overload. They were literally paralyzed because they had too much information. they literally had no idea how or where to get started, and when they did start, they changed direction every time they came across another ‘miracle weight loss technique’.

It’s a vicious cycle that continues today.

Instead of the normal abdominal training routines that we see so often using situps, leg lifts, crunches, etc… I try to give my readers better options for fat-blasting high intensity workouts that train their entire body while also training their abdominals hard. This serves up better results as you stimulate your metabolism to a much higher degree than just using typical ab exercises.

I am going to show you an example today of one of my favorite abdominal workouts that does not include any direct "abdominal exercises" at all. It’s in a tri-set format (similar to a super-set but alternating between 3 exercises, similar to a mini-circuit).

Here it is:

1a. Mountain Climbers on Floor
1b. Front Squats with Barbell
1c. Renegade Dumbbell Rows

A good repetition scheme to use with this could be 3-4 sets of 8 reps for each exercise, or more sets for less repetitions, such as 5 sets of 5 reps of each exercise. Mountain climbers can be done for a time interval (such as 20-30 seconds) instead of for reps.

Mountain climbers are done by starting in a pushup position and then shuffling your feet in and out so that your knees are moving in under your chest and then back out to starting position. It sort of resembles climbing a mountain but flat on the floor. If you want an advanced version, you can also shuffle your hands 8-10 inches forward and backward in addition to the leg movements. This really makes it a full body exercise and MUCH more difficult than standard mountain climbers.

Front squats are performed similar to back squats, however using the barbell in front of your body on the front of your shoulders instead of resting on the upper back as in back squats. You stabilize the barbell on your shoulders by crossing your arms and pushing your fists into the bar against your shoulders while keeping your elbows out in front of the body. This takes a little practice at first, so you will want to seek a professional trainer at your gym to help you with the form. Front squats require extreme stabilization strength from the abs due to the barbell weight being shifted to the front of the body instead of the back. Even though this is mostly a leg exercise, you’ll feel this one in the abdominals big time!

Renegade dumbbell rows are performed starting in a pushup position with the hands on two dumbbells. You then row 1 dumbbell up while stabilizing your body with the other arm. Bring the dumbbell back to the ground and alternate the rowing arm while stabilizing with the opposite arm. This stabilizing effect during these types of rows creates incredible work for your entire midsection core area. Trust me… you’ll feel it in the abdominals!

After finishing each exercise, rest about 30 seconds before starting the next exercise in the sequence. Rest about 1-2 minutes after completing each "tri-set" before repeating the sequence.

This will give you one of the best abdominal workouts you’ve ever had without even doing any direct abdominal exercises. You’ll see what I mean after you try it!

Hi Lewis,

Here we are, 3 weeks into January, and there are lots of men and women thinking about quitting their fat loss programs. In fact, some of them may have abandoned them already…often only days before the results were about to appear in the mirror and on the scale.

I realize we are long past the first week of the year when everyone is "gung-ho" about diet and exercise, and I’m very worried some of you might be back to your old bad habits or are frustrated and ready to pack it in.

Why?

Because maybe you just haven’t had the results you expected, right?

You’ve strayed from the diet plan a little more often than you should have, you missed a couple of workouts because you got sick, or the kids were sick. Or you worked late. Or it was too cold to go to the gym. Or maybe it is closed today for the Martin Luther King holiday. Yes, those are all excuses we make from time to time.

But don’t give up. Don’t quit!

And there’s no better day to pass along that message than today, as many states in the USA are honoring Martin Luther King. There was a man who did not quit.

So I hope he can serve as an inspiration to you not only in how to treat others, but also how to persevere in hard times in order to reach all of your goals, including your burning desire to lose fat and finally change your body.

Don’t let this be like other years, where your good intentions were gone before you had a chance to reap the benefits of eating right and doing the short TT workouts.

Don’t give in because you lost 3 pounds in week 1 and nothing since.

Don’t quit just because everyone else in the gym is dropping out. 

Don’t stop even if you ate too much last week, because you can still get back on track today!

Whatever you do, don’t quit! 

You owe it to yourself, your spouse, your kids, your co-workers, and everyone else who is depending on you to be the healthy role model in their lives.

We were approached last week, by "The Musclehead", a fitness-guy who wants to be anonymous! Wow, now that’s a first. So far, everyone has had their name in bold letters, pictures, bios, but here is a man from Australia who wants to be able to go to the local shops and not be recognized. Fair enough, after all, it’s the program, the package deals, that everyone really wants, right?

I looked at what he had to offer, figuring it would be as usual, an e-book, maybe an audio track, a bonus or two … surprise! The Musclehead is offering his clients a vast array of products to help them on their journey to a lean and fit body. I started by browsing through the list of downloadable files and I was equally impressed with each one.

The day I did this, Friday in fact, I had quite a few things on my agenda, and was just going to have a quick look at the actual e-book. Quick look? I read the 121 pages in one sitting, I just couldn’t click away from it. Now this is not to say that there is anything revolutionarily new in this book, but the way it is written, the angles of attack to each subject, is really well done and very complete. You aren’t lost in a jungle of mumbo-jumbo taken from a university course (not that this isn’t understandable, but you need more time to digest that kind of language), it’s simple, straightforward, everyday language that you grasp from the word go.

Goal setting, nutrition, weight training, it’s all there. Cardio? It’s mentioned too, but not emphasized. Yayy :) !!

Well sure, if you are one of those who love doing cardio, no one will stop you; it’s just not the main part of this program.

So what do you get from The Musclehead? For $77.00  out, you will get in:

8 smaller e-books, on 6-pack abs, a check-list document, how to make it through college without adding fat, exercises, recipes, and even a report on steroids, a workout book, and a supplement black book.

1 main e-book on how to obtain a Godlike Body - and who doesn’t want to have that?

There is also an audio book (you can listen to it in the car or on your MP3 on your way to work or class) and a video series. To top it off, he includes a software program with nutrition, exercise, a place for before-during-after pics and a few other features (it still has a little crash-issue, but is in the process of getting fixed, and I can’t wait to see what else it can do!) as well as a separate program to specifically design your own, personal workout!

How many other programs have you come across that offers such a wide and complete variety of products, and actually gives you everything in one? No need to go looking for a nutrition tracker software by browsing the Net, nor searching high and wide for how to perform the exercises; there aren’t a lot of fancy moves, it’s back to basics with the exercises the "old timers" used and got success with! Everything can be done from a home-based gym (not talking fancy equipment all-in-one home-gyms here, but barbells and dumbbells and a bench) as well as from a commercial gym.

With the software, I was able to design my workout program easily (and everyone knows by now that I am not happy with computers, and even less with new programs I have to figure out before being able to use them), no learning curve on this one!

If you are a total beginner to the fitness scene, if you are an intermediate-level trainee, or even if you have trained and been serious about your nutrition for years, this package deal is great. You will learn - or get a refresher course - pretty much everything you need to know, somewhat past the basics, all in a simple and easy-to-understand program and package of documents, e-books, audio, video and software. There is no "upgrade" making it more expensive like you will find with certain other programs, this one is a clear and cut case of WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) and pretty much also of KISS (keep it simple stupid).

Of course, some of the documents are just one page, others are much longer, but the full package gives you all the information you need to get started, progress, and remind yourself of the basics.

The AtoZ Fitness conclusion is that this is really a good deal.

Below is an interview that I did with world-famous trainer and Men’s Health Magazine Training Advisor, Craig Ballantyne as he grilled me on the top secrets for fat loss and six pack abs. Check it out…

CB: Mike, give us a brief background about yourself

MG: Sure Craig. Well, I’m currently a Certified Nutrition Specialist and a Certified Personal Trainer. I’ve been dedicated to improving my knowledge of fitness, both training techniques and nutrition aspects, for over 15 years now, and I never stop trying to learn more each and every day. I’ve also been a contributing writer for Muscle & Fitness Hers Magazine, and I’m the author of the popular internationally-selling book, "The Truth about Six Pack Abs" which has had tens of thousands of readers in over 150 countries currently.

I just love helping people with this area of their lives, as not only does it improve their outward appearance and confidence, but more importantly, improves how they feel and their internal health, helping them to live longer and healthier lives. It’s something I’m very passionate about.

CB: Okay, so where does the average man or woman go wrong when it comes to training abs?

MG: Ok, most people are probably going to be surprised with this answer. In their quest for ’six pack abs’, the biggest mistake I see people making is wasting WAY too much of their time training their abs directly… pumping away with all kinds of different abs-specific exercises.

I’m sure you know what I’m referring to. The person is trying so hard to get those abs to show, that they’re spending almost all of their time in the gym with hundreds of reps of various crunches, leg raises, twisting exercises, etc. Meanwhile, all of that wasted time directly training the abs could have been better spent on a properly designed full body workout program that would elicit a much better metabolic response and increase the fat-burning hormone levels in their body as well.

After all, losing the stomach fat that is covering the abs is the MOST important aspect for most people to finally be able to make their abs visible. Unfortunately, pumping away with hundreds of crunches and leg raises does NOT cause much of a metabolic or fat burning hormonal response. This is the main focus of my Truth about Six Pack Abs book… full body training programs and proper nutrition to strip off that stubborn belly fat and reveal the six pack that’s hiding underneath!

Of course it wouldn’t be an abs book if I didn’t focus on ab development too, but I make sure firstly that the most important concepts for lasting body fat reduction are understood.

CB: Do you see any gender differences in mistakes they make? And more importantly, do you see any gender differences in the response to various types of ab training?

MG: To be honest, I don’t really see any need for men or women to train differently. Bottom line… the best exercises are the best exercises regardless of gender.

However, in regards to mistakes I see between genders… Yes, I tend to see women more often are deathly afraid to use weight training with anything but really light weights. That is a shame, because THE most effective way to gain control over your body fat for life, is to maximize your lean muscle that your body carries, as well as working that muscle hard through intense resistance exercise regularly.
