Smart brains - smaller balls

You have to chose between a large brain or big testicles - you cannot have both. At least not if you’re a bat. This is the conclusion of a major, American survey being presented in “Proceedings B” which is published by the British scientific Royal Society. It appears that the promiscuous bat-males with large testicles had much smaller brains than the more faithful types. According to the scientists, the explanation is simple: the production of sperm and brain-mass demands so much energy that you have to chose one or the other! This can’t be transferred directly to humans, because the spermproduction in a male bat totals 8.5% of his bodyweight, and a mere 0.75% in a human male.

Dentists …

Anyone like those guys? Well, I walked into a nice, bright, modern dental cabinet, with a beautiful view of the harbor - not that I saw it for very long, I was soon in that moving chair being tipped backwards and got a bright lamp stuck in my face.

Ever notice how dentist always fill your mouth with loads of metal pieces and stuff, and then ask you questions? You can’t speak, can’t move your head either way, only make grunting sounds that could mean anything at all!

Summer weather

Summer … I wonder what the definition is to that? Should it be weather or months? If I go with the month idea, I guess this is summer right now. If I look out the window however, I’m not so sure. It’s a mere +12ºC out there and pouring down with rain, SO boring! Normally I wouldn’t care, since I’m at the gym all day, right? But since the calendar says “summer months” I’ve altered the opening hours and close in the middle of the day: 1) because it’s too warm to do a real workout anyway, and 2) so that I can get a tan on my terrace. But what happens? The two weeks prior to the time-change the weather was terrific, as soon as I changed it went bad. Oh no, I’m not quite truthful here, I could have spent some time on the terrace yesterday … except I had to go to the dentist! Same tomorrow, have to go back again, and it’s supposed to be nice and sunny again. Typical.

Before, and now

This is what happened to me after following BFFM for 5 months. Not too bad. January 20th (inside, if you please!) and June 11th 2006. I’m not through yet, but getting there - I guess :-) or will I ever? Can’t stop setting goals, so I’ll just have to keep progressing into … what? Someone jokingly proposed Zena the Warrior Princess (sure, Lew!), or even Superwoman (more and more crazy buddy!) Bur it was fun to pull on a T-shirt I hadn’t worn in two months or so because if had become too big, this morning it was tight over the upper body and the sleeves almost cut into my arms :-) Now, how did that happen? (Don’t answer tht, not a serious question).

New Pictures, More Muscle

How did I do last week? Pretty incredibly actually. I mean, LBM up 2.04 kilos!?! That’s like 4.5lbs! And that BFP I’ve put on hold? I’ve really not thought about it, honestly. But it had absolutely dropped! Down to 16.7% And I’ve only taken the TDEE +5% too, plus creatine of course, but still. And, working my butt off in the gym :-) but it doesn’t really qualify as work, I’m having too much fun!

129th workout 2006

How did I ever get that many? Not just because I own the gym and spend every day here. The people who owned it before me used the office, not the gym itself. A lot of the “lazier” members make excuses for themselves, saying it’s normal that I’m getting results, since I’m sitting here all day. Oh yeah? How do you build muscles and burn fat sitting on your butt? Whether the seat is at the gym or in front of the TV, it doesn’t change much, you still sit.

Monday morning blues

Blues my butt :-) Look at the first entry of the day in my personal diary, not much trace of blues …

“So how do I feel after the workout yesterday? My back is tight, real tight; traps a little sore, and the pecs would have been sore had I gone for two supersets with 13.5kg and not just one! Meaning I feel them if I flex really hard and feel for the soreness. On the whole though, it feels like my entire upper body had expanded about ½ to 1cm overnight, and I love that feeling.

It’s working :-)

What’s working? The muscle building, that’s what. LBM up by 1.13lbs after a short week of 4 days (3 with weight training and one “just” cardio). So the fat stayed at 18.27%, so what? I couldn’t care less right now, worry about that later. For the moment it’s MASS and nothing else :-)
Rather than using the TDEE -20% for fat loss, I went with the TDEE as it was last week, didn’t take it any further up than that, since I’d been on -20% for so many months, any additional calories would be put to use (I figured). This week I’ll go with a +5% just to see what happens.

Alone and forgotten …

Not a single mail today! What is this? Nobody loves me anymore :-( ? Depressing thought. And it’s weekend tomorrow too. How can they all leave me on such a lousy impression? It’s plenty late enough for everyone to have arrived at their office and opened their mails. Yet I’m being ignored. ME! How is that even possible?

After the good legs workout yesterday, and the more-than-great shoulders and arms today, I’ve been on a cloud all day. Talk about getting high as a kite on hormones! My own at that, no “foreign substance” at all.

To cheat or not to cheat …

Thought I’d share the photos taken the day I biked to the ski-jump and climbed up. Not a very flattering picture of me, but after 6 kilometers through wind and rain to get to the place, and then climbing up, what can you expect? What bugs me a little, is that the hill doesn’t look anywhere nearas steep and long as it in fact is on the overall view. The view behind me shows the height though. Would you believe I have an issue with height? Doesn’t really look like it here, does it? Actually, the steps aren’t see-through, so I was OK going up. What I don’t like are those metal wire-like steps where I can see all the way down right underneath my feet, that’s spooky. I’ve been up another ski-jump with stpes like that anyway, on a sheer stubborn streak, but I didn’t like it much (the Holmekollen ski-jumping hill, if anyone ever watches the sport on TV). And those guys setting out down the slopes with skis on, to fly of the end … must be off their rocker! Guess they get a kick out of it, I stick to my weights!
